In between
In between you and me
stands nothing
except my self-esteem
that never allows me
to forget my identity
and accept you the way you want me
In between you and me
stands nothing
except your ego and priorities
that keep you away from the reality,
the source from which you have been
and never allow you
to accept me the way I want to be
Man being what he is
becomes an unwanted entity
the day he fails to deliver and
wither away from the main theatre.
I know it so also you.
Let us accept the truth
neither I am in your world
nor you can be in mine
I hope
you never want me to be an antique in a corner
and you be a helpless spectator
silently witnessing my self-esteem shattered,
enduring me with all your love, alienation, predicament and tear.
No doubt
we love each other,
but what comes in between is
our self-conceit and preferences.
Let me be in my world,
in my world of reality, dreams and fancies
and you on your ivory tower
living, loving and respecting each other
from a distance without trespassing
into each other's domain.
