He promised to be my strength,
To fight for me with all his might,
But when his own mother was in pain,
He cowered behind a couch, out of sight.
How could I trust in someone
Who couldn't even defend his own kin?
If he couldn't stand up for his mother,
How could he protect me through thick and thin?
I saw his true colors that day,
And realized his words were just a lie.
He may have promised to be my rock,
But when push comes to shove, he'll shy.
I deserve someone who will always stand,
Against any storm, no matter how tough.
Not someone who hides in fear,
When things get rough.
So I'll walk away from him now,
And find someone who is true.
Who will fight for me till the end,
And always follow through.
