#ALBATROSS #survival #seaside #Nature #island #Ocean ZOI ( Part 3)

Returning to Zoi's neighbour, the black-footed Albatross, the chick's hunger is now satisfied, but what looked like a lifeline could have
been a death sentence, as the illustration below reveals:-

Across the island, albatross chicks are dying. My heart sank when the documentary showed the scattered plastic waste over the beach. Laysan is about 1600 km from the Hawaiian Islands and
quite far from its home country, the United States. How is it possible that such a lot of trash is spread out on this island? Imagine if these plastic wastes could reach the Earth's remotest speck of land; then what would be the plastic content lying in the ocean? Undoubtedly, these plastics lying all over are carried by ocean currents, which are thrown into the rivers, beaches, seas, and oceans by the most educated, cultured, well-mannered, and positive-thinking human beings. Yes, it's us!
These Albatross parents mistake minute floating plastic particles for food and bring it to their young ones, which would, in turn, kill the chicks. The camera shows one such chick choking and then lying motionless on the ground. It's dead. Several chicks are killed due to plastic getting mixed with their food. The parents of these chicks are helpless and can do nothing other than watch them give up their lives. Zoi, too, looks helplessly at the dying chick and quacks. The documentary says that Layson Albatross birds are in the greatest danger, consuming more plastic than any other seabird.
And things are only getting worse each year.
